Masculine tailoring

zara

As fashion evolves, style does too. Embrace your manly side with masculine tailoring. This classy, dapper, suave style is on trend. You’ll look well-dressed/ well groomed. A cut edge and polished look can be achieved with a chic and tailored suit (or your boyfriend’s suit). You can opt for a fitted style or slouchy boyfriend design for a fresh spin on the look. From navy to burgundy the colour choice is endless or go for a gorg print. The outfit is super refined and well thought out- which being “suited and booted” is all about.

A well-tailored outfit is the art of sophistication. Blazers look chic rolled three quarters and emphasize tasteful formality. Silhouettes are neat and smart shape. An immaculate outfit isn’t complete without the correct shoes! Sandals, ankle strap heels, T-bars can complete the look. Penny loafers go for that androgynous feel, if you want to girl’ it up then slip on a heeled loafer. I love the shoes with tassels and fringing- its oh so classic. Bag-wise if you desire male style go for a satchel or off the shoulder bag (briefcase optional). Or a cute structured tote looks cultivated and fashionable swinging from your arms.

Tapered/ cigarette trousers above/below the ankle add that dashing touch. You can mix and match, by going for a printed second half to transform your look. If that’s not your style, a timeless colour such as black will go with anything… Workwear, partywear.

Zara is known for its classic tailoring, here’s some top picks:
Outfit 1) Light Wool Blazer, £49.99 + Trousers With Slit At The Hem, £35.99 (Red)

Outfit 2) Single Button Blazer, £49.99 + Cropped Trousers, £29.99 (Black)

Outfit 3) Moleskin Blazer With Elbow Patches, £49.99 (Light Khaki)

Show off the “male” in “female” today!

Festival season

Image

It’s almost festival season! That means kimonos, Aztec prints and bohemian chic style garments. They are so hawt right now. Details include fringing, tassels, classic lace and quirky tropical prints. Colours are neutral nudes, crisp whites and statement blacks. Go for a native look and embrace the summer sun and loud feel-good tunes. Matchy matchy co-ordination is on trend and guarantees a great outfit (and saves you the worry of finding garms to compliment the look). If wearing jeans, roll up the denim or invest in a great pair of cut-off denim shorts to go with the wild festival vibe. Rock out in a pair of grungy Dr Martens, desert boots, open toe glads or practical (neon) wellies. Bum-bag optional- they are now a major festival look.

Accessories amp up the look, go for friendship bracelets- lots of them! Take a trip to the 90’s with the choker necklaces; they are so “it” right now. Or opt for pretty embellished chunky statement necklaces; wear it bold to make your outfit prominent and add the perfect dose of femininity. Ring-wise large stones stand out and add a pop of colour to your outfit. My favourite is azure blue. Serious trend alert! Midi-rings are so trendy and will complete any look. Double them up or wear them minimalistic and they are so fabulously fashionable.  I adore ankle bracelets as they jazz up and adorn your feet and are so so so stylish.  They can be simply simple with a classic gold or silver chain or have festival feathers.

Champion the festival look and explore the adventures from camping. Go on the ferris-wheel journey. Wear your flower crown like a Queen.

S/S14 Tea Length Skirts

Image

My fave tea length skirts:

1, White Leather Midi Skirt, £130, River Island   2, Wet Look Calf Skater Skirt, £45, Topshop   3, Pleated Midi Skirt, £380, Dsquared 2

4, Button Up Full Skirt, £35, Warehouse   5, Premium- Flared Midi Skirt, £42, Mango   6, Blue Floral Midi Skirt, £21, Dorothy Perkins

7, Auberta Pleated Midi Skirt in Scuba, £20, Missguided  8, Feather Light Flared Skirt, £69, French Connection

9, Feather Light Flared Skirt, £69, French Connection   10, Kadie Porcelain Print Box Midi Skirt, £20, Bohoo.com

11, Ivy Stripe Midi Skirt, £125, Whistles

Ladies, say eh hello to the beautiful skirt that is a must-have in your wardrobe…tea length or midi skirts. Such a classic. The skirt is just-above-the-floor on the shin or calf. On the plus side you can show off them shoes (note- ankle strap heels look ah-mazing)! If you are going for flats you can always make the skirt high-waisted, depending on your shoes and the look you are going for choose a skirt with your desired length preference. For elongated legs, heels show the skirt in full swing. It’s flattering on all figures as the silhouette fits and accentuates the waist and then flows outwards, so select a shape that suits you!

The shape varies, a tight fitting straight skirt is simplistic or if you are going for an extravagant dressed-up look opt for a A-line fuller volume shaped skirt. Bold colours make a statement, show your sweet side with pastels (go for pink for a ballerina look), painter’s style florals are charming whereas lace gives an elegant ladylike feel. Also, don’t shy away from geometric or stripe patterns for a loud and proud look. Belts are optional, most have an elastic band feature to securely fit.

The skirt is romantic and adaptable, you can wear it for a day out or an evening if you change the top and put on some embellished accessories- and in all seasons! Go retro with a cropped bold leather jacket, you can either colour match or clash. They have a prom feel, oh so classy. You can do as many twirls and wirl around in the luxurious pleated fabric. You can collaborate the skirt with a shift blouse, blazers, slogan tee’s, crop tops or tank tops. A simple colour can go well as it is not overpowering with the skirt. The midi is a nice change from maxi skirts or short skirts… the perfect balance.

In the 1800’s this was a major trend, skirts exposed the ankle. In the 1920’s the tea train dress/skirt were created. To be quintessential all you need is a cup of Earl Grey in your finest china, two sugars, sitting in your garden with the exquisite skirt flowing in the summer breeze. What’s not to adore?

Go dressy and show your femininity and sophistication. Freshen up your look with the tea length skirt. Embrace the inner vintage Princess within you!

Dynamic florals

Fashion is for ever blooming this time with a darker mood. The floral trend has taken a twist since summer, garments are in darker shades and less vibrant tones. Some of the flower pattern is gothic others are glamorously embellished. Luscious roses are my favourite as they create a fairy-tale spin, reminiscent of the delicate garden.

My picks from the highly-affordable highstreet:

Image

Loving this H&M jersey top (matching skirt sold seperately). The deep pinks reflect refreshing romance. For £9.99 it can be teamed with endless garments. The 3/4 length sleeves draws in your waist, oh so feminine.

Image

Just look at this pins & Needles oversized sweatshirt £40, exclusive to Urban Outfitters. The retro inspired print is a relaxed material which shows a new side to florals with a washed out look.

Image

This is the perfect dress ever, don’t you love it! This Kimchi Blue Stella garment is also from Urban Outfitters, £38. The colour is sharp marine and indigo colour, the complimentary hues are uplifting  against the dominant black.

Image

Florca Floral Pleated Skirt from Missguided is a zipped pleated and detailed design of the graphic bold bloom at £19.99. Everyone should have one item floral- such a stylish motif!

Add a fresh appeal to your closet, when your fingers run through the clothes touch textured petals… or your floral clothing. To add a touch of rock to the soft floral look just throw an a leather jacket and you can’t go wrong! Embrace your lady-ness or edgy-ness.

Stylist pick: Coats

Coats are so versatile, there is an array of types. Whether you are opting for a snow-proof snuggly fluffy piece or a coat for the fashion statement. Layer elements with your coat, choose a coat or jacket that can be re-styled and worn with your wardrobe. You can combine prints and texture for adventure or go for classic neutral hues.

You’re outwear can be both warm and stylish. Coats can have texture, faux fur or grainy. Popular styles are the oversized boyfriend coat which is a nonchalant and an effortlessly simple look.

Image

Parka coats are so wear-able, popular colours include navy and also khaki green. Some have fluffy fur trims or interior, extra comfy! Seen at festivals and street wear. What are you waiting for?…Embrace your inner tomboy.

Image

The military print coat adds edge and a more contemporary twist. This is such a hot a long lasting trend, I’m sure you’ve seen many people wear it. It’s because it has a rocky vibe with an earthy green which looks bullet-proof. You too can conquer the trend.

Image

The duffle coat is a smart and timeless coat which comes in dark shades with toggle front fastening looks adorable, since 1890. Even the interior is lovable- some designs are tartan.

Image

The mac coat or known as the trench coat is a sophisticated and practical coat, the honey is a traditional colour. It is British and iconic, ready for rain and any other forms of unpredictable weather. It can be collaborated with muted tones.

Image

Textured coats- some say they are for the brave but I think any one can look delightful in them if you choose your favourite and most flattering shape. You can go slouchy such as the boyfriend coat or fitted, completely up to you! Team with accessories for extra wow factor.

Whether you go for an androgynous or overly feminine look, adopt your own personality. Let your coat do the talking!
